More doctors and researchers are agreeing that we don't need dairy products such as milk and cheese in our diet at all!
CBS News interviewed Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian, cardiologist and professor of medicine and nutrition at Tufts Medical School about the benefits as well as the downside of consuming milk and cheese. He advised getting calcium and vitamin D in your diet from plant-based "milk" products such as soy, oat, almond and coconut milk.
But on the upside he said that milk is also associated with a lower risk of having blood pressure and strokes. Yogurt is linked to lower risk of developing diabetes and that all dairy is linked to greater muscle mass and less fat mass.
So perhaps the best approach is to stay on top of your blood work by getting a comprehensive metabolic and lipid panel as prescribed by your doctor.
